Snowday
I’m sitting in my warm apartment watching the snow blow all around outside, hoping it’ll do the work of cleaning the car off for me. This storm got allot of hype, some of the schools even closed last night. I’d take a snowday almost any day, but I have to say Monday is an awesome day to have off.
I know in some of my previous posts I talked about how our wildlife survives the winter, whether it be by hibernating, freezing or hopping on the first air current south. Looking outside right now it’s hard to imagine anything other than the abominable snowman walking around out there. Like, where are the deer? They just seem to dissolve in the snow storm. Someone commented in one of my posts about getting a camera that you attach to your pet’s head to see where they are going. If I ever get the funding I think I’ll catch a deer and attach one to their head for a week.
Anyway if you want to know more about what animals do in the winter, a great book is Winter World by Bernd Heinrich. If I were to invent an animal physiology class, this book would definitely be required reading. Unless I lived in Florida.
