Panthers in the park

Published by zztalon at 10:06 am under News Edit This

It appears I’m not the only one setting up camera traps. Due to Multiple sightings of “large black cats” in Rockland’s Tallman State Park, Park police have installed cameras and put up notices warning people of “Suspicious animal sightings”.

It almost makes me want to go and find them. With someone armed next to me just in case. ;-)

Sightings have actually been going on for at least a month now, but there has been renewed interest since the signs were put up. The multiple sightings seem to give the stories more credibility. But I’ve seen well meaning people exaggerate or misrepresent things they’ve actually seen (snapping turtles always wind up being the size of small cars), so a photo or video would be nice.  I just hope they let us common people know about it. :-)

Speaking of big cat sightings, I spotted a dead Mountain Lion in Dutchess County recently. (On the Taconic Pkwy, in fact.) They’re certainly bigger than I imagined. . .
